Though undeniably smart and charming, "Moonrise Kingdom" loves itself the way the callow Holden Caulfield loves himself: unconditionally. Salinger understood the problem with that. Anderson may not.

The latest unadulterated delight from Wes Anderson, director of "Rushmore," "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox."

The usual complaints and caveats about Anderson - he's precious, his characters have no grounding in the real world - can be made about Moonrise Kingdom, but so what?

Anderson and his actors are able to convey more genuine feeling through these devices than most filmmakers can with more-traditional means.

One knock against some of Anderson's previous efforts is that they're too clever - so clever, in fact, that the humanity gets sucked out of them. That doesn't happen here.

Anderson's best feature since Rushmore, in part because, like that film, it takes as its primary subject matter odd, precocious children, rather than the damaged and dissatisfied adults they will one day become.

Phonies may complain that Anderson's island of misfit toys is a retreat from the real world, but for pure-hearted adventurers who share the secret map, "Moonrise Kingdom" is a joy that cannot be eclipsed.

It's sweet, charming, quirky, imaginative, poignant, and whimsical. Just what a Wes Anderson film should be.

Anderson has trouble sticking the landing, but "Moonrise Kingdom" is in many ways the most satisfying flight he's taken us on in years.

"Moonrise Kingdom" takes place in a world where everything seems pleasantly faded, where people read crackly-covered library books rather than e-books, and where young people are allowed to be genuinely innocent.

A remarkable story, stopping to survey the author's superlative descriptions and attention to the tiniest fragments of heartbreak. It's a treat to watch unfold, sweetened gorgeously by Anderson's magical manner of thinking.

I loved every second of "Moonrise Kingdom."

Thoroughly well scripted and well-acted. May be the greatest work to date from one of the greatest directors working.

Moonrise Kingdom?s heartfelt search and rescue of a feel-good result provides a perfect, even musical counterpoint to its regimented summer camp.

This is a Wes Anderson film. It's gonna be quaint. It's gonna be wry. It's gonna look just like Anderson's other features. But is that such a bad thing?

A marvelously funny, wry script

Despite the star power on display here, the movie is not for everyone

Government Removes Tax on Bread, Increases Duty on Alcohol In ...

Government has removed the Value Added Tax (VAT) on bread and has?increased exercise duty on sachet and plastic bottled beer, Finance?Minister Ken Lipenga announced on Friday.

In his Budget Statement in Parliament Lipenga said government has?reviewed some policy measures that were adopted during the 2011-2013?budget which was deemed Zero Deficit.

One of the commodities that government introduces VAT on was standard?bread which consequently increased the bread prices on the market.

?Mr Speaker Sir, the cost of bread has substantially increased?partially because of the taxes that were introduced on standard bread?in the 2012 budget.

?I wish to announce that government has now removed VAT on bread. In?view of this, may I ask the honourable members to join me in imploring?the industry to reduce the prices of bread in response to these policy?measures,? said Lipenga.

Lipenga also announced the removal of tax and duties on some?commodities. The minister announced that government has removed duty?on second hand clothes and textiles and VAT on newspapers and internet?services.

Lipenga said in order to attract investment, VAT on machinery has also?been removed together with VAT on financial services.

The Minister of finance said government has noted that alcohol abuse?by minors continues to increase at an alarming rate in the country?despite government introducing 100 percent excise duty on sachet and?plastic bottled beer.

Lipenga therefore, announced that ?it is in this regard that?government has decided to increase exercise rate to 250 on alcohol.?

The Finance Minister also announced that Government has increased?corporate tax paid buy phone operators from 30 to 33 percent.

He said returning resident from outside Malawi will be able to clear?duty free motor vehicles they have used for more than 12 months out?side the country.

?We have noted that this provision has been abused in the past, and in?order to reduce the malpractice associated with this provision,?government has decided that duty be paid on disposal of such motor?vehicles and that the provision will only be enjoyed by a qualifying?beneficiary once in every five years. This Lipenga said does not cover?buses, minibuses and other commercial vehicles.

Customs and tax measures will be effective from midnight of 7th June?while the VAT measures will become effective on 1st July 20 12.

India Cements falls over 5% on CBI reports

NEW DELHI: India Cements Ltd slipped over 5 percent in early trade Friday on reports that the Central Bureau of Investigation has summoned the company's VC and MD, N Srinivasan, for questioning by the Hyderabad wing.

"The CBI has called India Cements Managing Director N Srinivasan for questioning in connection with disproportionate assets cases against YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy," according to a PTI report.

"They said Srinivasan has been asked to appear next week at the CBI office," added the report.

CBI is probing the alleged investments made by Srinivasan's company India Cements in the companies promoted by the Kadapa MP during the tenure of his father Y S Rajshekhara Reddy as chief minister, the sources said.

At 11:20 a.m., the company's shares were trading 4.2 percent lower at Rs 73.00. It has hit a low of Rs 72.60 and a high of Rs 76.40 so far.
